Recently, ALB Hong Kong IPO Handbook 2024 has been officially published, aiming to provide guidance for enterprises on the process of IPO in Hong Kong. Llinks lawyers were invited to contribute to the first chapter of the handbook: Thinking of IPO and Pre-IPO Preparation.

After nearly two years of ups and downs, the Hong Kong capital market has gradually rebounded since the second half of 2022 and the market sentiment has picked up. As the pandemic exits the acute phase, with homecoming listings and relaxation of the HKEx's listing regime, SPACs in Hong Kong are off to a steady start in new economy, green and new consumer sectors. Biotechnology, health and technology stocks ranked among the main IPO sectors while media and communications, retail and consumer goods and materials sectors are embracing more listing opportunities. The recent launch of the new listing mechanism for specialist technology companies is also expected to further enhance Hong Kong's listing framework, helping companies of new generation in the innovation sector to connect with the capital market. Demonstrating strong resilience and growth potential, the Hong Kong market remained one of the top listing destinations in 2023.

Llinks Hong Kong Office managing partner, Mr. Dennis Fong and partner, Mr. Bosco Leung, have jointly participated in the compilation of the handbook, which mainly focus on the core issues faced by mainland Chinese enterprises in the process of considering and preparing for listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, such as analyzing and simplifying the existing structure, re-visiting the relationship with key shareholders and other related parties, designing the right corporate governance structure, determining the appropriate offering structure, designing the employee stock option plan, listing considerations and other core issues.
