Summary

Mr. Simon Cheng is a counsel of Llinks Law Offices LLP. Experience

Simon’s areas of practice include private equity, mergers and acquisitions, private fund formation, retail fund authorization, financial regulatory matters, engineering construction projects, notes and bonds issue, cryptocurrencies and employment related matters. Simon had previously led the legal affairs, compliance and contract administration teams at a major airline operator in Hong Kong. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Simon was also a civil engineer by profession and was the engineer in charge of key parts of MTRC railway and tunneling construction projects and casinos complexes in Macau.

RECENT MERGERS AND ACQUISITIONS AND DEBT CAPITAL MARKET EXPERIENCE INCLUDES:

• Representing Ping An Real Estate in a number of cross-border acquisitions and acted as legal advisor for its property development project above MTR Wong Chuk Hang Station;

• Representing Sailing Capital Fund in the Series B financing of SenseTime;

• Representing Gaw Capital in the acquisition of a number of cross-border real estate projects (including the acquisition of SOHO China’s Linkong SOHO project in 2018);

• Representing a leading Italian clothing brand in the selling of its international business and trademark to a U.S. apparel group;

• Representing Red Star Macalline in a number of cross-border acquisitions and cornerstone investments in mainland financial institutions that are being listed in Hong Kong;

• Representing Shanghai Electric in its mining business investment in Pakistan;

• Representing Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC) in the issuance of US$600m bonds listed on the SGX in early 2020; 

• Representing a number of cross-border organisations to acquire Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) licensed corporations.
